The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change. Online Platforms Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Accounts One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Service Background The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
