Per new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a news release that the prison’s warden was “helping” Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the “commutation application” are unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” private meetings for her and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about who she should tell her associates to contact and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to the President, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
